Basketball Recap: East Union Comes Up Short

East Union was the 69-53 winner over Falkner when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The East Union Urchins fell 61-52 to the Falkner Eagles on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Urchins came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Eagles are ranked 215th).

Elijah Mauney was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds for Falkner. The dominant performance gave Mauney a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Chris Nunley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

East Union's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Falkner, they moved to 10-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

East Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Falkner, they will square off against Jumpertown at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falkner is facing Jumpertown at the right time seeing as Jumpertown is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
