Johnson County Central waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 50-34 win over the Fairbury Jeffs. The Thunderbirds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jeffs, too.

Despite the loss, Fairbury saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evelyn Timmons almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Timmons has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Friesen, who posted seven points and six boards.

Johnson County Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Fairbury, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Johnson County Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Elmwood-Murdock at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Fairbury, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-28 loss against David City on the 3rd.
