Football Game Preview: John Paul II Cardinals vs. Coram Deo Academy Lions

After each having a week off, the John Paul II Cardinals and the Coram Deo Academy Lions will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. John Paul II is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, John Paul II lost to Dallas HSAA at home by a 35-16 margin.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Coram Deo Academy challenged Sacred Heart last Friday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 48-27 margin over the Tigers. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Coram Deo Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points over those games. As for John Paul II, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for John Paul II against Coram Deo Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 45-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
