Basketball Recap: Cathedral Catholic Dons vs. San Diego Cavers
The Cathedral Catholic Dons were handed a two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against the San Diego Cavers on Tuesday. Cathedral Catholic blew past the Cavers 79-58. Given Cathedral Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Cavers are ranked 368th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Patrick O'brien continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 7 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Steven Evans-glynn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Cathedral Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for San Diego, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.
Cathedral Catholic will play host again and welcome the Saints, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Augustine is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for San Diego, they will square off against the Knights at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
