Basketball Game Preview: Hough Huskies vs. Chambers Cougars

Hough is 1-9 against Chambers since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Judah Freeman and Markus Kerr.

Last Monday, Hough came up short against North Mecklenburg and fell 57-44. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Vikings are ranked 20th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chambers). They really took it to West Mecklenburg for the full four quarters, racking up a 102-29 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 65-17.

Chambers' win came from a few key players Hough will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cameron Thompson, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten boards, and ten steals. Those ten steals gave him a new career-high. Zyon White was another key player, putting up 17 points and five steals.

Chambers was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hough's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Chambers, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Hough might still be hurting after the 72-49 loss they got from Chambers when the teams last played back in January. Can Hough avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
