Basketball Preview: Pahokee Blue Devils vs. Moore Haven Terriers
Having just played yesterday, the Pahokee Blue Devils will get right back to it and host the Moore Haven Terriers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Monday, Pahokee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-41 to Oxbridge Academy. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the ThunderWolves 13-3 in the first quarter.
Despite their defeat, Pahokee saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sa?Nya Flowers, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Karlissa Young, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, a win for Moore Haven just wasn't in the cards last Friday as the squad wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 74-30 loss at the hands of Lake Wales. The loss was the Terriers' first of the season.
Like Moore Haven, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Sa'Nyree Myers led the charge by posting 11 points plus four steals. Myers is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preslynn Baker, who had 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Having lost for the first time this season, Moore Haven fell to 2-1. As for Pahokee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
