Soccer Game Preview: Denison vs. Melissa

The Denison Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to challenge the Melissa Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Denison's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Denison fell victim to McKinney North and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Denison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 320th, while McKinney North are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Melissa didn't have quite enough to beat Anna on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Denison's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-3. As for Melissa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12-1.

Denison beat Melissa by a goal when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellow Jackets since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
