Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Southeastern Royals vs. Zionsville Eagles

Hamilton Southeastern is 9-1 against Zionsville since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hamilton Southeastern Royals will square off against the Zionsville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hamilton Southeastern is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Hamilton Southeastern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They took down Fishers 46-30.

Maya Makalusky was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 17 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The contest was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Holman, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Zionsville ended up a good deal behind Brownsburg on Friday and lost 65-50. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Bulldogs are ranked fourth).

Despite the loss, Zionsville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emma Tinder went 7 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Sampson, who scored five points and 11 rebounds.

Hamilton Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 23-0. As for Zionsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hamilton Southeastern has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Zionsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything came up roses for Hamilton Southeastern against Zionsville when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 67-33 victory. Will Hamilton Southeastern repeat their success, or does Zionsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
