Shiprock triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Nevaughn Begay

Recap: Shiprock Chieftains vs. Aztec Tigers
Even though the Aztec Tigers scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, the Shiprock Chieftains still came out on top. Shiprock took their game against the Tigers 72-60. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Shiprock.
It was another big night for Nevaughn Begay, who scored 24 points. Begay is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Ashton Keith was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Shiprock's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Aztec, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shiprock will square off against the Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Gallup is ranked 82nd, while the Chieftains are ranked 58th). As for Aztec, they will head out on the road to square off against the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kirtland Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Tigers likes a good challenge.
