Recap: Lincoln Mustangs vs. Strathmore Spartans
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Lincoln Mustangs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were the victim of a tough 41-15 loss at the hands of the Spartans on Saturday. Lincoln's loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Lincoln lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamelle Newman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Newman really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run.
It was another big night for Jacob Poole, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 55 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes for Strathmore. Isaiah Colunga also helped out with an impressive 107 receiving yards.
Lincoln's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for Strathmore, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Strathmore will square off against Bell Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bell Gardens is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
