Recap: Littleton Lions vs. Bear Creek Bears
After a string of four wins, the Littleton Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bear Creek. Littleton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bear Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Loss or not, Littleton got some senior leadership from Penny Urquhart and Jacy Chandler. Urquhart scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Chandler. scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51.2% of Littleton's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Hernandez Tobon, who scored two points along with two blocks.
Bear Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Olivia Kan, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Freund, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.
Littleton now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Bear Creek, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6.
Littleton will face off against Green Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Green Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for Bear Creek, they will be playing at home against Pomona at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Pomona is ranked 138th, while Bear Creek is ranked 117th).
