Baseball Recap: Pecos Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Pecos had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Clayton Yellowjackets by a score of 9-6 on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-1 on April 1st.

The team relied heavily on Avenicio Martinez, who got on base in five of his nine plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Shawney Villanueva was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

Pecos' victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Clayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Pecos has already played their next contest, a 7-3 defeat against Estancia on the 22nd. As for Clayton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 20-1 loss against Santa Rosa on the 22nd.
