Oakcrest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mary Mehan, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 18 rebounds, and Kate Newsome who scored 21 points. Newsome scored a full 42% of Oakcrest's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Myriam McGovern was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
The win got National Cathedral back to even at 1-1. As for Oakcrest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
National Cathedral will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on DC International at 4:15 p.m. on December 13th. As for Oakcrest, they will be playing at home against Seton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
