Volleyball Recap: Merrillville Takes a Loss

Merrillville lost against Valparaiso on April 3rd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Pirates lost 3-0 to the Vikings. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Merrillville had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.

Chris Wilson paced Merrillville's offense, picking up nine kills. Wilson got some help from Maurice LaGrand and his 13 assists.

Merrillville's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Valparaiso, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Merrillville is set to challenge their familiar foe La Porte at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Valparaiso will square off against rival Munster at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
