Baseball Recap: Manalapan Takes a Loss

Southern Regional hit Manalapan with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Braves lost 9-3 to the Rams. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2016.

Manalapan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dennis Healy, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Cristian Ptasienski was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Manalapan and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Southern Regional, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manalapan will challenge Freehold Boro at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southern Regional, they will head out to challenge Brick Memorial at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
