Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Redmond Mustangs

The Liberty Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Redmond Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Liberty nor Redmond posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Liberty had taken Bellevue down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Patriots fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 3-1. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ryan Boehm was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Redmond unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Mercer Island by a score of 2-1.

Redmond saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cavin Bowmer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Redmond's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Liberty might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Redmond when the teams last played back in March. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
