Softball Recap: Little Chute Mustangs vs. Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes
Little Chute had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it 15. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Foxes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-2 back in April.
Kyra Whalley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Ella Mielke was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.
As for Fox Valley Lutheran, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 13-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average this season.
On Fox Valley Lutheran's side, Olivia Fischer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Fischer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexi Hanson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Little Chute will face off against Luxemburg-Casco at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, they will challenge Marinette at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Marines will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Foxes surely won't give up without a fight.
