Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln vs. St. Mary's

The Lincoln Trojans will take on the St. Mary's Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Lincoln's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Lodi 1-0. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Flames are ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's won against Tracy on Thursday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. St. Mary's walked away with a 3-1 victory over Kimball. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly two goals.

Etienne Lopez and George Biglieri scored all three of St. Mary's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four games. As for Lincoln, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1-2.

Lincoln skirted past St. Mary's 3-2 in their previous matchup on January 14th. Does Lincoln have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Mary's turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
