Volleyball Recap: Destiny Ioane Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Lakeside

The home team had won the previous three meetings between West Valley and Lakeside, and West Valley kept the tradition alive. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lancers 1-0. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers on Saturday, too.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day West Valley got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8.

West Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Destiny Ioane led the charge by getting five aces. Those five aces gave Ioane a new career-high.

West Valley now has a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, West Valley will challenge Vista Murrieta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeside, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Corona at 5:30 p.m.
