Baseball Recap: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Douglas County Huskies

Arapahoe took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Douglas County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Arapahoe Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Douglas County Huskies on Monday. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Cain Gostenik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Carter Landen and Brady Syers did most of the damage at the plate: Landen got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Syers went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Syers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Lew, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Arapahoe now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Douglas County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Arapahoe will welcome Denver North at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Douglas County, they will be taking part in a tournament against West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
