Softball Recap: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Takes a Loss

Berwyn/Cicero Morton easily dispatched Kennedy on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Mustangs fell just short of the Amundsen Vikings by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Alyssa Kunz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Amundsen, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-4.

Coming up, Berwyn/Cicero Morton will be playing in front of their home fans against Nazareth Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Amundsen, they have already played their next game, a 5-4 loss against Payton College Prep on the 14th.
