Basketball Game Preview: Waterloo Pirates vs. Parkview Vikings

The Waterloo Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Parkview Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Waterloo has given up an average of 60.8 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Two weeks ago, Waterloo came up short against St. Ambrose Academy and fell 58-49. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Guardians are ranked 129th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Avery Peachey, who posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 41.2% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Trey Collins, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points.

Meanwhile, Parkview waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with a 64-41 victory. That looming 64-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.

Waterloo's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Parkview, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Waterloo suffered a grim 88-66 defeat to Parkview in their previous matchup back in January. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
