Recap: Kearny Komets vs. Calipatria Hornets
On Friday, The Kearny Komets got themselves on the board against the Calipatria Hornets, but the Calipatria Hornets never followed suit. They blew past the Hornets 58-0 on the road. Kearny pushed the score to 51-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Calipatria had no chance of recovering from.
Kearny was led to victory by Jaylen Hill and Brodie Stump. Hill gained 132 total yards and three touchdowns, while Stump threw for 333 yards and six touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes.
Kearny's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 5.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Marcos Torres and Connor Nevada who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Kearny's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Calipatria, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kearny will take on Canyon Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canyon Hills is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Calipatria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Holtville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Calipatria in California (Holtville is ranked 458th, while Calipatria is ranked 963rd).
