Baseball Game Preview: Schurr Spartans vs. San Gabriel Matadors

For the second straight game, Schurr will face off against San Gabriel. Schurr will host San Gabriel at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Schurr's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on San Gabriel with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Logan Trevino made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double.

In other batting news, Joseph Tapia was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Liam Lu was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Schurr hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

San Gabriel is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. As for Schurr, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
