Softball Recap: Millikan Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Millikan's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Cabrillo Jaguars get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lauren Cantwell looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aisley Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That run marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Liana Lopez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Millikan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Millikan's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cabrillo, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Millikan will head out to face off against Long Beach Poly at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Millikan's pitchers better be ready for this one: Long Beach Poly has averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Cabrillo, they will welcome Compton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
