Softball Recap: Broadalbin-Perth Takes a Loss

Broadalbin-Perth extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Amsterdam Rams. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Adrianna Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Broadalbin-Perth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allee Jasewicz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That run was Jasewicz's first of the season.

As for Amsterdam, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Amsterdam's side, the team relied heavily on Elianna Tirado, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Broadalbin-Perth and Amsterdam could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Patriots (ranked 242nd) will meet Duanesburg (ranked 88th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Amsterdam will square off against Scotia-Glenville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (277 vs. 70).
