Softball Recap: Prescott Takes a Loss

Prescott dropped to 13-7 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Flagstaff Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Badgers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Mariah Smolinkar made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Roselynn Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Flagstaff, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Flagstaff's side, the team relied heavily on Molly Speer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Speer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mayla Speer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

While Prescott had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
