Preview: Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks vs. Norcom Greyhounds
The Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks will head out on the road to face off against the Norcom Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Norfolk Collegiate has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 301 points over their last four games.
Last Tuesday, Norfolk Collegiate strolled past Maury with points to spare, taking the game 59-45.
Rashaad Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with 8 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Norfolk Collegiate's points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Chatman, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds and 6 assists.
Meanwhile, Norcom pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-56 to Cape Henry Collegiate. While losing is never fun, Norcom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Cape Henry Collegiate is ranked 47th).
The wins kept both teams' perfect 4-0 season records intact.
Norfolk Collegiate didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Norcom in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norfolk Collegiate since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
