Basketball Recap: Chapin Takes a Loss

Chapin extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They fell 52-42 to the Catawba Ridge Copperheads. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

As for Catawba Ridge, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mark Caslaru continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 20 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted three or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Heffner, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Coming up, Chapin will head out to challenge Blythewood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Catawba Ridge, they will be home for the holidays to greet Lexington at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Copperheads will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
