With a playoff win on the line, Catholic rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the St. Thomas More Cougars 16-6. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 games by seven runs or more this season.

Bennett Smith looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Noah Lewis was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jack Ruckert, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

The victory (which was Catholic's sixth in a row) raised their record to 34-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for St. Thomas More, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 27-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Catholic beat the Cougars by a score of 9-3 later that day.
