Riverton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 40-33 win over the Beardstown Tigers on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Beardstown's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Meyer, who posted seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ephrem Kayembe, who earned four points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Looking ahead, Riverton will be taking part in a tournament against Rushville-Industry at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Beardstown, they will be playing at home against Augusta Southeastern at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
