Football Recap: Mansfield Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Mansfield and Byron Nelson squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mansfield had to settle for second. They were dealt a 42-14 loss at the hands of the Bobcat. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Bobcat are ranked 64th).

Mykah Lankford threw for 76 yards on 11 of 25 attempts. Zion Robinson was his top target, picking up 29 receiving yards. On the ground, Raymond Weaver rushed for 39 yards and one score.

Parker Almanza produced another solid performance throwing for 167 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 35 yards and one TD for Byron Nelson. Collin Janese was in the mix as well, providing the Bobcat with two scores.

Mansfield now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Byron Nelson, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Mansfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Byron Nelson, they will take on Eastwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcat will need to watch out since the Troopers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
