Baseball Game Preview: Lanier Voks vs. Seguin Matadors

The Lanier Voks will challenge the Seguin Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lanier has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with seven straight losses, while Seguin will come in with eight straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for Lanier's offense. They lost 13-0 to Burbank on Monday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seguin). They never let Sam Houston get on the board and left with a 28-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Matadors with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Will Gray Mahaffey, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jordan Herrera, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mahaffey wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Seguin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's a new trend for Seguin: they were averaging 3.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.2.

Seguin's victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Lanier, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9-1.
