Football Game Preview: Algonquin Regional Titans vs. Leominster Blue Devils

Algonquin Regional is 1-8 against Leominster since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Titans will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Algonquin Regional has given up an average of 30.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Algonquin Regional's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Franklin on Friday. They were dealt a 36-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Panthers are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Leominster scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Wachusett Regional by a score of 45-42.

Algonquin Regional will have to contain Osiris Lopez as he made an impact in Leominster's last game. He threw for 200 yards and five TDs, and also rushed for 116 yards on only ten carries. A healthy portion of Lopez's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Jayden Wilbon.

Leominster's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Algonquin Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Algonquin Regional was taken down by Leominster 40-6 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lopez, who rushed for 203 yards and three scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes.
