Silver Stage had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-12 to make it 14. They lost 21-4 to the Virginia City Muckers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Muckers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-8 back in March.
Amy Welch was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
As for Virginia City, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.3 runs over those games.
On Virginia City's side, Kaiya Krum made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Krum was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more stolen bases the last 11 times she's played.
In other batting news, Virginia City got a massive performance out of Jensyn Harold, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Harold is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. Grace Wackerly was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Silver Stage will take on Sierra Lutheran at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Virginia City, they will square off against Smith Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
