Softball Recap: Southeast Whitfield County Comes Up Short

Southeast Whitfield County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dalton Catamounts. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Catamounts earlier this season, when they won 8-0.

Piper Shoemake was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Shuler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Southeast Whitfield County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Dalton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-16.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Southeast Whitfield County will square off against rival Woodland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dalton is set to challenge their familiar foe Cedartown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
