Baseball Recap: Camden Fairview Takes a Loss

If Camden Fairview was riding high fresh off their 15-2 takedown of Prescott last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Camden Fairview Cardinals fell 9-6 to the Hamburg Lions on Friday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Dayson Connelly was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jy'Mauri Utsey, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Connelly wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Camden Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Camden Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hamburg, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camden Fairview will host Monticello at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Camden Fairview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Hamburg, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Drew Central at 3:30 p.m.
