The McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets will venture away from home to square off against the Theodore Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. McGill-Toolen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Theodore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
McGill-Toolen came into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Spanish Fort by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Toros recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Theodore challenged Murphy on Thursday. Theodore's pitchers stepped up to hand Murphy a 10-0 shutout. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Austin Youngblood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last three matches. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Theodore's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-14 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Hayden Smith looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
Back at the plate, Zachary Ryan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last seven contests. Another player making a difference was Jaden Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Theodore's record is now 10-14. As for McGill-Toolen, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
