The Mooresville Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the West Cabarrus Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Mooresville sitting on seven straight victories and West Cabarrus on four.
The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Mooresville and A.L. Brown had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Blue Devils walked away with a 10-5 win over the Wonders on Friday. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Wonders on their field since April 12, 2022.
Talon Russ looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Dawson Bennett was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Intoppa, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Mooresville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Cabarrus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Mount Pleasant 5-3.
Turner Boone looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Marlow, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. West Cabarrus is undefeated when Marlow posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cage Love, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Mooresville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. As for West Cabarrus, their record is now 7-8.
Mooresville's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Blue Devils have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West Cabarrus, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mooresville continue to outrun the ball?
Mooresville came up short against West Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
