Baseball Recap: Pitman Comes Up Short

Pitman extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They fell 5-2 to the Turlock Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Monday.

Nathan Cervantes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Blake Rose also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Turlock, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Turlock's side, Andrew Sevilla spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Sevilla has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joshua Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Turlock beat Pitman by a score of 4-0 on Thursday.
