Baseball Game Preview: Seventy-First Falcons vs. Cape Fear Colts

Seventy-First hasn't had much luck against Cape Fear recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Falcons will host the Colts at 6:00 p.m. Neither Seventy-First nor Cape Fear posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Seventy-First's offense. They lost 10-0 to Gray's Creek on Tuesday. The Falcons' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Cape Fear came up short against Harnett Central on Wednesday and fell 6-1.

Cape Fear saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Bunce, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Seventy-First's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Cape Fear, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Seventy-First suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Cape Fear when the teams last played back in March. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
