No. 3 North Shore at No. 25 West Brook matches playoff-tested teams in Texas Top 5 high school football Games of the Week

District 21-6A showdown brings together 2018 6A-D1 state champion Mustangs vs. 6A-D2 state runner-up Bruins.

North Shore and West Brook square off in a District 21-6A showdown.

Not often will you find a defending state champion and a state runner-up meeting in a district contest. But that is the situation when 2018 Class 6A-DI state champion North Shore pays a visit to Beaumont to face last season's Class 6A-DII state runner-up West Brook in a District 21-6A showdown.

North Shore (6-1, 4-0 in 21-6A) vs West Brook (7-0, 4-0) is the Week 9 feature clash in MaxPreps Texas Top Games of the Week.

Since falling 24-21 to Katy in the season opener, North Shore has reeled off six consecutive wins. It has allowed only 52 points (8.7 per game) in the winning streak.



West Brook can come close to matching North Shore's offensive production, but on defense is yielding 25 points per game. (MaxPreps Texas Top 25 ranking included).

In District 25-6A which includes Austin powerhouses Westlake and Lake Travis, Hays is the only undefeated team remaining at 7-0. But this week's game against Westlake and a visit to Lake Travis on Nov. 1 will be a test for the Rebels (5-0 in 26-5A). Westlake (6-1, 4-1) routed Hays a year ago 70-14 and may still be a little angry about a 26-25 loss at Lake Travis two weeks ago.

Wimberley at Navarro (Geronimo)

First place in District 13-4A-2 is at stake when this rivalry is renewed for the 15th time. Navarro (7-0, 2-0) depends on the running of De Leon (1,057 yards). Wimberley (6-1, 2-0) has a weapon of its own in dual-threat quarterback McCollum (1,541 passing yards, 424 rushing). The all-time series is tied at seven thanks to Navarro's streak of five wins in the last six years including a 56-28 victory in 2018.

Eastland at Wall
Friday, 7:30 p.m., Hawk Stadium

Both teams enter this District 3-3A-1 showdown with 7-0 records and 2-0 in league play. A year ago, Wall defeated Eastland 41-21 on the way to the district title, but Eastland eventually advanced one more playoff round than Wall.

Parish Episcopal (Dallas) at Prestonwood Christian (Plano)
Friday, 7 p.m., Lions Stadium

Parish: QB Preston Stone (6-2, 205), RB Cauren Lynch (6-0, 200), WR Evan Greene (6-1, 175), LB Keegon Addison (6-2, 205), DL Josue Munoz (5-11, 230).

Prestonwood: QB Jacob Switzer (6-3, 200), RB/LB Randell Holmes (5-10, 170), WR/LB Riley Wilson (6-2, 185), LB Graham Hill (6-3, 205), DL Aeden Combest (6-3, 215).

Both teams are 6-1 for the season and undefeated in TAPPS Division I District 2 play. Parish (2-0 in district) is led by quarterback Preston Stone with 1,792 passing yards for 21 touchdowns. The defense for Prestonwood (1-0) has been tough on passers with 10 interceptions and 16 sacks. The sack leader is sophomore Aeden Combest. Prestonwood leads the series 5-3 including a 42-24 victory in 2018.
