Basketball Game Preview: Pine Forest Trojans vs. Richmond Raiders

The Pine Forest Trojans just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Richmond Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Pine Forest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-50 to Overhills. The Trojans have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Richmond entered their tilt with Southern Lee on Monday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Cavaliers 71-11. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Richmond's win came from a few key players Pine Forest will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jamyia 'Juicy' Lindsey, who almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine blocks. The game was her eighth in a row with at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiah 'Jo Jo' Gilchrist, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Richmond pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points over those games. As for Pine Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Pine Forest was dealt a bruising 54-21 loss at the hands of Richmond in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lindsey, who went 10 for 19 to rack up 28 points.
