Baseball Recap: Niles West Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Niles West ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Niles North Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Monday.

Teddy Schroeder spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kevin Foley and Eli Ordower did most of the damage at the plate: Foley went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Ordower went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Niles West is 2-1 when Foley posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

Niles West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. As for Niles North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9-1.

Niles West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
