Recap: Woodland Cougars vs. Tonkawa Buccaneers
There's no place like home for the Woodland Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They didn't even let Tonkawa onto the board and left with a 14-0 win on Friday. This was payback for Woodland, who suffered a 20-8 loss the last time these two teams met.
The critical scores for Woodland came from Trey Bennett and Chase Bowman.
The team won by holding Tonkawa to a paltry 71 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Woodland's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. In that department, Dennis "dk" Kennedy was the leader with two sacks.
Woodland has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.2 points per game. As for Tonkawa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Woodland will look to defend their home field on Friday against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. Tonkawa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
