West Mecklenburg scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a hard 82-66 fall against the Carvers Bay Bears. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 602nd in North Carolina, while the Bears are ranked 148th in South Carolina).

Carvers Bay found their leader in sophomore Jaquan Hannah, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Hannah. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Bell, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

West Mecklenburg's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Carvers Bay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.

West Mecklenburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 87-69 loss against Grace Academy on the 28th. As for Carvers Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-62 defeat against York Prep on the 28th.
