The Volcano Vista Hawks will take on the Farmington Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Volcano Vista has three straight wins, Farmington has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Volcano Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Rio Rancho, who was ranked ninth at the time (Volcano Vista was ranked sixth). The Hawks put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday.
Volcano Vista walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 25-19.

Madison Hatch was the offensive standout of the match as she had 12 digs and two assists. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September.
Volcano Vista was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are 8-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Farmington came up short against Cleveland on Thursday and fell 3-1.
Farmington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-12.
Farmington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Volcano Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Volcano Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Farmington in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
