McGavock hasn't had much luck against Donelson Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The McGavock Raiders will challenge the Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. McGavock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
McGavock took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cheatham County Central with a sharp 18-3 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Montay Keel was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Keel was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paul Benz, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Cody Calvin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
McGavock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Donelson Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Destin on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Sharks by a score of 4-3. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
McGavock's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Donelson Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
