Softball Recap: Cesar Chavez Sets Scoring Season-High Against Maryvale

Cesar Chavez is still winless after their contest against Maryvale on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Panthers. One positive for the Champions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Mariah Flores made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Gianna Jaquez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Cesar Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Maryvale, their record now sits at 5-3.

While Cesar Chavez had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
