Basketball Recap: Sapulpa Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sapulpa can now relate to. They lost 74-49 to the Putnam City North Panthers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chieftains have suffered since December 10, 2024.

Leading Putnam City North to victory were Kiana Gray and Brandie Harrod. Gray shot 50% from the field en route to 20 points and three steals, while Harrod dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. Gray has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nykaiya Dillard, who went 7-for-17 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Sapulpa's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Putnam City North, the victory (which was their 19th in a row) raised their record to 27-1.

Sapulpa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Putnam City North, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Putnam City North Panthers duke it out with Broken Arrow Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in their favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
